Splendacrest Endurance Training is proud of all our riders, and especially promotes the Junior members of our team.  Since 2001, approximately 40 young riders have been trained by Splendacrest, many of whom have gone on to be sucessful in the sport.  At the moment, our riders are as follows:

ANGELA HEAD

Angela has been riding here since late 2005, and has gained her Open Rider qualification.  She is in her second year of University in Brisbane, and is very busy fitting in riding with her studies.   Angela has also completed her TPR training, and is looking forward to participating as a TPR steward at future rides.

SAMANTHA DOBSON

Sam started riding at Splendacrest in early 2006, and trains three times a week.  Sam has completed her 2 x 40km rides, and has also completed her first two 80km rides on Splendacrest Gringo at Spring Mountain and the Sparkler.  Sam rode Gringo totally barefoot in both rides, ending up with 14th Heavyweight placing at each ride!  Sam has also completed her TPR training, and is looking forward to participating as a TPR steward at future rides.

BECK FORGAN

Beck has completed her nursing studies at USQ, and has had a long association with horses having done Pony Club and Hacking in her youth.  Beck is very pleased to be able to ride on a regular basis, and is a keen and competitive rider for Splendacrest.  Her favourite horse is Obi.  In March 2008, Beck took the big step of going to the USA to ride for John Crandell III in Virginia.  She is enjoying her time in the States, and is learning about endurance riding from the American perspective.

GERARD BOU

Gerard has only been riding for Splendacrest since early 2007, but was raised around horses as a youngster.   He is very keen to get into the competitive ranks, and is learning all about the sport as fast as he can!  "G" is a great guy, and we love having him here at Splendacrest!

Alissa contacted Splendacrest in early 2007 stating that she would love to learn to ride a horse.  Little did she know that she would become 'hooked' on the best horse sport around!  Alissa has progressed very well from her starting point of not being able to ride at all, and is now quite comfortable around horses.  She will commence her endurance riding career in 2009.

We have several other riders at Splendacrest who are looking forward to commencing their endurance competition in 2009 and beyond.

Splendacrest Endurance Training offers international visitors the opportunity to ride in endurance events in Australia.  Most of these rides are in the South-East Queensland region, however we also travel to the bigger interstate rides, such as the Tom Quilty Gold Cup.

International Novice riders can enter 80km+ (50mile+) rides, but only upon showing proof of their riding qualification,  ie. proof that the rider has completed at least 2 x 40km (25 mile) rides.  Qualified international Endurance (Open) riders may enter 120km+ (75mile+) rides, including the Tom Quilty Gold Cup 160km (100mile) ride.

Splendacrest is able to provide horses on a lease arrangement to international riders, and is also willing to spend time in advance of the ride with the rider, in order to develop a bond between horse and rider.  Upon enquiries for this service, Splendacrest Endurance Training will forward details of the horse/s available for the desired ride.  If Splendacrest does not have a suitable horse available, we will assist you to find a horse through our many contacts in the sport.

Since our international program started, we here at Splendacrest Endurance Training have met a lot of great people from around the world!  We have been able to match our guests with horses suited to their riding ability and skills, and have been successful in getting these horse/rider combinations through a variety of endurance rides.
